Junior Leagues Start June 21st!

Toronto Rugby is pleased to launch Junior Girls & Boys Rugby programs for the 2014 season.

The U16 and U18 leagues run 2 divisions, Premiership and Championship. The Premiership league is more of a development league, while the Premiership league offers clubs with large memberships the opportunity to have their older, more experienced players, in a more competitive environment. The quality of rugby remains high in both leagues.

U18

The start of U18 Boys schedule has been delayed until Wednesday July 2nd due to exams.  Sunday night fixtures will be scheduled on July 20th to make up for the lost game. Wednesday June 25th is now open for clubs to schedule exhibition matches.

U16

The U16 schedule has been released with games starting this Saturday, June 21st.  Premiership games will kick off at 10:30am and Championship games at 9:00am.

The City Division schedule will be changed to reflect mid-week games by the Toronto Inner City Rugby Foundation, TIRF.  Once that schedule is finalized it will be updated on the TRU website.

The Premiership Cup playoffs will be made up of the top team in each division (5 teams) and an additional 3 wild-card teams.  The remaining teams will scheduled in either a Plate, Bowl, or Shield playoffs tournament.

At the pre-season meeting the following were considered when completing the schedule:

1.  The Championship League is reserved for second teams from clubs only to ensure that geography and travel are the top priority.

2.  Every attempt is made to provide 2-on-2 for clubs running multiple sides.

3.  Playoff seeding considers travel over points.

Toronto Rugby anticipates a successful 2014 Junior rugby season.
