Record Number of players attend Toronto Sevens Combine

On Saturday, June 18, Toronto Rugby in association with Rugby Ontario and Team ETS put on a Sevens Combine in Whitby, ON. The purpose of the combine  was to ID players for the Under 17 Boys and Girls Sevens program competing in the Ontario Summer Games in August and the Fall Elite Division in the fall wrapping up with a trip to the NYC Sevens in November.

Over 15 clubs and 70 players were in attendance for the combine and the players were put through the following test:  grip strength test, standing long jump, vertical jump, 40 metre, agility test, ball toss and finished with a yo yo test. The skills assessment watch the player in three stations: Passing and Decision Making, Evasion and Tackle Situation.

A big thanks to David Butcher from Rugby Ontario who organize the event and Jeff Watson of Team ETS for running an excellent combine.

There will be an open try-out for this program in early July so stay tuned to: www.torontorugby.ca/SEVENS for more information.
