Josiah Morra named to Maple Leafs Sevens
|Toronto Rugby is pleased to announce that Josiah Morra, a member of our 2015 Ontario Interbranch and NYC 7’s Championship teams, will be heading out to Langford, B.C. as the youngest carded athlete to take part in the Canadian Sevens Program.
Morra, a member of the Toronto Saracens began playing rugby at Brebeuf College in North Toronto. He was excited about the opportunity to play at the next level: “Ill be training with some players, I would watch on TV including John Moonlight, Nathan Hirayama, and much more. I’m really excited for this opportunity, as I will have the chance to travel the world and play high level Rugby 7s starting off at Argentina. I can’t wait for what this journey has in store for me.”
When asked how his experience with Toronto Rugby help him along the way, Josiah replied: ” Toronto Rugby Sevens helped me a lot. Our under 17 team was the youngest squad at every tournament. By looking at that it made the team and I more aware that we had to compete against older players who were bigger and more experienced,. The fact we were able to make it into finals and win tournaments really showed me that I’m capable of playing at the next level. TRU also helped me by meeting new friends. Everybody that was on TRU’s 2015 squad really made a huge difference in my life today by supporting me and motivating me to do my best. I can tell you that, TRU plays a great role in our rugby careers as most of them were able to play Ontarios 7s and 15s afterwards.”
