Rugby Canada Player Welfare and Law Update Memo
|Rugby Canada has released a law amendment following a rule change by World Rugby.
“With regard to the law amendment for the front row, please note that though it says the sanction for non-compliance is a free kick, I would encourage all referees to start by resetting the scrum and managing the situation by reminding players of their responsibilities in the setup.
You will also find a reminder that there is to be absolutely no use of the HIA protocol in the domestic game – which is every match in Canada outside of senior men and women international test matches. Additionally, there is a reminder that the only goggles to be used by players on the field are those approved by World Rugby.”
