Toronto Reds- 2020 Tropical Sevens U15 & U17 Boys Rosters Announced

February 12, 2020- Stouffville, ON

Coach Donnie Maillet- Cobourg Saxons (U15 Boys) and Coach George Azar- Canada Misfits Rugby (U17 Boys) are proud to announce their 2020 Tropical 7s Rosters. The team features players from TEN different clubs in Toronto and the majority of the team(s) have been training/playing together for the past 18 months. The teams were selected following this Saturday’s joint practice/selection games with Niagara Rugby U17 Boys and Crusaders RFC U16 Boys team in Stouffville, ON.

Both teams are working towards the 2020 Ontario Summer Games (OSG) in London, ON- July 30 to Aug 1, 2020. The competition will be held at University of Western Ontario in London, ON. In order to prepare for the OSG’s both teams have been playing up an age grade in all the competitions they have entered including Great North 7s, TIRF7s, Belleville7s, Whitu7s, Qmeta7s and NYC7s. The U18 Boys in Florida will be strictly U17s (2003/2004) and the U16 Boys will be 9/13 players born in 2005 (U15s) the same as the summer games will be.

Program Lead Donnie Maillet had this to say about the squads. “Both teams features lots of dynamic returning players from 2019 (21/23). Our focus since we restarted in June 2019 was always to prepare these players for the Ontario Summer Games and ultimately the next step: Ontario 7s with five of the U17 Boys (Buss, Callaway, Logan, Taylor, Webb) heading to Edmonton with Ontario 7s this weekend.”
